Writing and Library Research Peer Tutors

2008 Peer Tutors

UCI students at any level may bring writing-in-progress to a peer tutor for consultation at four locations free of charge!

Students learn well from other students, and peer tutoring of writing is a practice that has succeeded in writing centers at many institutions across the country. A far cry from the scenario of a student handing her paper to her roommate to be "fixed," peer tutoring is a rigorous and carefully researched field of educational practice. We begin with excellent tutors: juniors, seniors and graduate students from various majors with proven writing skill, maturity, and good judgment. Tutors have undergone a training course and meet weekly with a professional coordinator for consultation. See the link below for more information about this year's tutors.

Drop in at Langson Library (Room 229), the Science Library (Reference Alcove, 2nd Floor), Middle Earth (Arkenstone), or Mesa Court (Community Center Computer Lab), Monday through Thursday, 6-9 p.m. Bring a writing or research assignment, a paper draft, or a completed paper that needs revision. Tutors are available on a first-come, first-served basis. See the link below for a list of what tutors will and will not do with your writing.
